Craft Brewing

Project Overview:
This is a branding project in which I had to design a logo and can for a craft brewery. Ciriaco Brewing Company is a Filipino pale lager beer. The beer has a strong coconut aroma, banana, pineapple and white flowers, and its appearance is light, gold colour and creamy on top.

This piece was inspired by my grandfather named Ciriaco. It was dedicated to honouring his hard work over the years as a farmer and of harvesting coconut bud and turning it into an alcoholic drink. I decided to go with Ciriaco climbing the coconut tree to capture his character as a Tuba (coconut sap) gatherer for the final logo design.

For the ideation process, I decided to go for bright colours, using Cheap Pine font, which gives off a handmade appearance and Dried coconuts, which replace the letter "O" of his name, captures Ciriaco's personality as someone bright and bubbly.

Winner Design: I chose this design for the final piece. It clearly describes Ciriaco's character and illustrates him sharpening his bolo (similar to a machete) is one way to show how he starts with the process. I then added two more designs to show his work process and complete the story.

I wanted the design to have a shiny effect for the mockup to show how the beer would look once it's packaged in aluminum cans. I decided to extend this project by creating a design series that would help explain the storytelling of Ciriaco preparing the harvest to enjoy the drink.
